Whole Life Insurance

Whole Life Insurance

Whole life insurance is my go-to tool when someone wants permanent coverage that will quietly be there, no matter how long they live. Most clients use it to make sure final expenses-funeral, burial, or cremation costs-never become a last-minute burden on the people they love.

Unlike term insurance, whole life does not expire at a certain age. As long as premiums are paid, your coverage is designed to last your entire lifetime. Over the years, the policy also builds guaranteed cash value. Think of that as a small, private reserve you can tap later in life if needed.

That cash value can be accessed in several ways. You can take a low-interest loan from your policy during a tight season, or you can withdraw funds if that fits your long-term plan. Many clients like knowing there is a place, outside of the bank and the stock market, where money is growing steadily in the background.

There is also an option called "reduced paid-up" coverage. I see this used often in the 70s or 80s, when someone is tired of monthly premiums. At that point, the insurance company can recalculate your benefit based on the cash value you have built. You accept a lower face amount, and in return, you can stop paying future premiums and still keep lifetime coverage in force.

Whether you want a modest policy strictly for final expenses or a larger amount to leave a small legacy, whole life gives you something simple and dependable: guaranteed coverage, guaranteed cash value, and flexibility later on when your needs and income may look very different than they do today.
